April 10th, 2015

I find it amazing to think that 150 years ago from yesterday (April 9), the Civil War ended. Isn’t it incredible to think how far our country has come in just 150 years?

The Civil War has always fascinated me…or maybe it was the time period. I love the 1800’s! I love reading books about the Civil War and continuing to learn about all the different sides there really were!

Some of my favorite books based on the Civil War are “To Whisper Her Name” by Tamera Alexander, “Candle in the Darkness” by Lynn Austin, and “The Brickmaker’s Bride” by Judith Miller.

There are many other wonderful books set in this time period, but these are a few of my favorite!

I am also so excited that the third book in my series “The Diaries of the Woodsmall Sisters” will touch on the Civil War. Accepting Change seems a pretty fitting title for that book! Experience the affects of the Civil War for yourself with Laura and her sisters!

What about you? Do you have a favorite time period?
