I found myself awe-inspired the way that some on the Eagles team are using their platform to serve Christ. Even getting all the way to the Super Bowl, they’ve had the public eye on them. But they haven’t wavered.
The following is a quote from Nick Foles, the Eagles QB, after winning against the Vikings and then realizing that they would be going to the Super Bowl:
“First and foremost, all glory belongs to God. I wouldn’t be here without Him and this is just very humbling and unbelievable.” – Nick Foles
The quote from above was found from an article on CBN News — https://www1.cbn.com/cbnnews/us/2018/january/the-locker-rooms-binding-force-the-faith-of-the-philadelphia-eagles. When you have a chance, take some time to read — I enjoyed it and hope you will too!
But overall, this situation brings to mind the verses from Isaiah:
28 Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary;
his understanding is unsearchable.
29 He gives power to the faint,
and to him who has no might he increases strength.
30 Even youths shall faint and be weary,
and young men shall fall exhausted;
31 but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint.
– Isaiah 40:28-31 ESV
Even when times are difficult and we may not know which way to go next, the Lord will give us the strength we need. Then He promises us that we won’t be weary, rather we will FLY like EAGLES!
So whether we are like Carson Wentz, and are dealing with a major disappointment in life or perhaps we are just tired from trying to balance school with the rest of our life — God is the Creator of the Universe.
He’s there for me and He’s there for you.
So — will you be watching the Super Bowl this Sunday? As you watch the Eagles team fly, remember that you too can fly like an Eagle with strength from the Lord.
