For those of you who have watched Les Miserables, you will recognize this title. There is something about Valentine’s Day that make me recall of my favorite love stories—those which I have watched (Cosette and Marius) or even read about (Angelique and Pierre from Captured by Love).
But when I also think of Valentine’s Day, there is more to love then just the romantic love. There is a self-less, pure love that we can be demonstrating in our own lives, even if that “special someone” hasn’t appeared to us yet!
My definition of love:
L – little things you say and do to show someone else you care about them.
O – over pouring of joy and kindness to brighten someone else’s day.
V – valuing who others are and what they do.
E – emptying ourselves; then filling our hearts with Jesus’ love that we can share with others.
So this Valentine’s Day (and of course other days!), my heart will be full of Jesus’ love! And I will be wearing red, pink, and white.
I challenge you—think of special ways that you can serve and show your love. Don’t get wrapped up in all the things you associate Valentine’s Day with, but instead fill yourself with Jesus’ love.
