This past weekend, I had the opportunity to go see Disney’s Cinderella movie in the theater. It was absolutely amazing! It reminded me so much of the original fairytale, of course, with some believable extra scenes added. They only served to enhance the storyline.
What I loved most was the theme that seemed to run throughout the movie–Have Courage and Be Kind.
As Cinderella’s mother is dying, she tells Cinderella these words. Because she respects her mother, she takes these words to heart. Cinderella’s kindness to her stepmother and stepsisters is truly remarkable. Her courage in difficult situations almost never wavered.
Of course there were times when Cinderella wondered if this was all worth it. She was treated so cruelly and yet she was told to be kind?
Cinderella’s story reminds me of a verse in Psalms.
Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord! -Psalm 27:14
In our Christian walk, we too are instructed to have courage and be kind. And we also have a difficult road ahead of us! It may not be the easiest path, but think of our reward.
We are waiting for the Lord. Our reward is spending eternity with our Heavenly Prince.
Just as Cinderella found her Prince and lived happily ever after.
