At the beginning of each New Year, I love to look back on the past year at everything I’ve done — the friends I’ve met, the friendships that have grown, the accomplishments, and the pain. When the next year begins, it is a chance to start fresh and renew yourself.
I think of this renewing in a couple ways – physical, emotional, and spiritual.
- Physical Renewal = New Year’s Day can be a day of relaxing for most people. A day when you spend time with your family and friends, reminising over the past. Or perhaps you are just catching up on sleep after welcoming in the New Year late the night before!
- Emotional Renewal = As you look back on the past year, there may be things that you are proud of accomplishing or perhaps you wish you did something better. I love the start of the New Year as a chance to refocus and determine to do things differently whatever that may be.
- Spiritual Renewal = The New Year is also a wonderful time to recommit yourself to Christ. Determine to read His Word more or perhaps you want to spend more time in prayer.
Whatever your renewal may be, determine not to fizzle away. Be steadfast in following the commitments you made to yourself and Christ.
But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is YOUR FAITHFULNESS. -Lamentations 3:21-23
The Lord is always faithful. No matter what may come this way, I pray that you are resting in the Lord’s arms ready to take on this next adventure of 2016!
